There are lots and lots of promises in the Bible. Many are unconditional- just things that God promises us with no work on our part. But there are also lots of promises in the Bible where God says I promise you _________, if you ______________.

Those promises aren’t any less wonderful. Many times I’ve found that I wanted some benefits that I know the Lord could provide, but I wasn’t doing my part. God is a God of order.

Here’s an example on a human level – I can’t expect people to treat me kindly if I’m always treating them unkindly.

I would encourage you to either underline/circle the promise/condition, or even rewrite the sentence to make it personal to you.
