For longer than I care to admit, I have felt a calling to slow down.
To “be still” and know that He is God.
I first started writing scriptures 30 years ago. I was a baby Christian and didn’t know where to start reading the bible, so I started with the basics. Each day, I would read through a chapter of Proverbs that matched the day of the month. For example, chapter 1 on the 1st and chapter 2 on the 2nd. I would write down any scriptures that stood out that day.
By the end of each year, I had read the book of Proverbs 12 times. I did that for multiple years, while also dabbling briefly in other chapters. I loved the simplicity of it. I’d memorized many verses from Proverbs “on accident” during that time.
I’ve been wanting to do some version of that again this year, and saw that https://www.nohighercalling.org/ had a scripture writing plan for the year called “Penning the Proverbs” and decided that I would do that this coming year. She has it available as a free download from her website.
By the end of the year, we will have written the entire book of Proverbs. Please join us!
You will find the page with the free download here: https://www.nohighercalling.org/shop/p/pen-the-proverbs-scripture-writing-plan
My New Years Resolution is to mindfully stay behind God. I aim not to run ahead as I have been so apt to do in the past. Sometimes I find it easier to read a book or a list of “do’s and don’ts” and follow along. I do this instead of being still and seeking true Holy Spirit leading before I take steps. I’m looking forward to this adventure in getting back to basics & I hope you will be joining me!
