Something that stood out to me this year in regards to the Christmas account in the Bible, was the phrase “fear not”.
Fear not, Mary…
Luke 1:30 And the angel said unto her, Fear not, Mary: for thou hast found favour with God
I know this is scary for you, Mary. I know you are worried about what people are going to think. I know that there are many uncertainties and you don’t understand why this is happening to you…but don’t be afraid.
Fear not, Joseph…
Matthew 1:20 But while he thought on these things, behold, the angel of the Lord appeared unto him in a dream, saying, Joseph, thou son of David, fear not to take unto thee Mary thy wife: for that which is conceived in her is of the Holy Ghost.
Joseph, I know that it seems all of your plans for your future seem crushed. I know the confusion and heartbreak that you are feeling in your relationship. Things are not as devastating as they seem at this moment. Trust me, Joseph. I know it feels that all hope is gone…but don’t be afraid.
Fear not, shepherds…
Luke 2:10 And the angel said unto them, Fear not: for, behold, I bring you good tidings of great joy, which shall be to all people.
Hey guys! You are here in your place, quietly doing your day to day thing. I see you and you are important to me. I wanted to announce to you all first that the Christ Child was born! We wanted to celebrate with you. I want you to see, and I know that you will share, this glorious event. I know this is unprecedented, but I trust you to see & tell…don’t be afraid.
My friends…are you questioning some of the things happening in your life? Are you worried about your future? Do you have struggles in your relationship? Is your heart heavy this holiday season?
Look up and see what God has to show you. Give Him your burdens and trust that He knows what He is doing.
God wants to celebrate with you. He wants you to remember what a precious costly Gift that He has given. He gave us Love in the flesh, because He loved us enough to give His all.
He wants you to trust Him in your uncertainties, like Mary.
He wants you to trust Him when it seems your relationship is over, like Joseph.
He wants you to trust Him and see what He has given you. He wants you to see and tell like the shepherds.
May you all feel embraced with His Spirit, and comforted with His unfailing love.
