Cinnamon Bread

Heaven must smell like cinnamon bread.

That gets me thinking about other smells that I love (fresh laundry, air after a rain, yeast bread baking, etc) and decided that maybe heaven smells like a cacophony of ALL of the wonderful smells that we love.

If you have ever been to Dollywood, you have smelled their delicious cinnamon bread! It tastes every bit as good as it smells!

Anyhoo… here is the recipe.

CINNAMON BREAD

1 1lb loaf of frozen bread dough, thawed

1/2 cup sugar

1 1/2 Tablespoons cinnamon

4 Tablespoons butter, melted

GLAZE

1 1/4 cup powdered sugar

2 Tablespoons butter melted

About 2 Tablespoons of milk

Mix the 1/2 c sugar with cinnamon in a small oblong bowl. You can also use an extra loaf pan. Set it aside.

Cut the bread dough loaf in half lengthwise. Cut slices across the bread about every inch, going almost all the way through. Brush each loaf with melted butter and roll in the sugar/cinnamon mixture. Then use your hands to stuff extra cinnamon/sugar down between each cut.

Put them in a greased loaf pan. Set aside in a warm, draft-free place. Let them rise until they double in size.

{TIP} You can turn the oven on about 200 while you are preparing these loafs and then turn it off and put them in there to rise).

When they are doubled in size, place them in a 300° oven for about 20-30 minutes or till done. While they are baking, mix the glaze. Put the glaze on them while still warm.

SO SO GOOD!

Make a couple of loafs, or a few extra to share!
